What infections does the STI 10 Plex screen for?

It screens for Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Syphilis (via PCR from lesion or urine), Herpes Simplex I & II, Trichomonas vaginalis, Mycoplasma hominis, Mycoplasma genitalium, Ureaplasma urealyticum, and Chancroid.

How is syphilis detected in this panel?

Syphilis is detected via Treponema pallidum PCR, suitable for lesions, chancres, or purulent discharges. This test is not ideal for detecting latent syphilis, where serologic testing is more appropriate.

Is this test suitable for people without symptoms?

Yes, particularly if you’re concerned about recent exposure. However, for latent or asymptomatic syphilis, a blood-based antibody test is more reliable.

Do I need to provide both a urine and swab sample?

Yes, both are required to ensure high sensitivity across all infections, especially for pathogens that may reside in different anatomical sites.

How soon after exposure should I take this test?

Most STIs can be detected within 1–2 weeks, but timing varies. PCR allows for early detection, though repeat testing may be needed depending on exposure risk.
